About Dhaka District in Bangladesh
Dhaka is the capital city of Bangladesh and it is also the name of the district in which the city is located. Dhaka district is located in the central region of Bangladesh and is bordered by Gazipur, Tangail, Narayanganj, and Manikganj districts. It covers an area of approximately 1,463 square kilometers and has a population of over 21 million people, making it the most populous district in the country.
The district is divided into several administrative subdivisions, including Dhaka South City Corporation, Dhaka North City Corporation, and Savar Upazila, among others. It is also home to a number of important landmarks, such as the historic Ahsan Manzil palace, Lalbagh Fort, and the National Parliament Building.
Dhaka is known for its bustling markets, including the famous Dhaka New Market and the Sadarghat river port, which is one of the busiest river ports in the world. The district is also a hub for the country’s textile industry, with many garment factories and textile mills located in and around the city.
Despite its economic importance, Dhaka faces a number of challenges, including traffic congestion, air pollution, and a lack of adequate infrastructure.
